Six Ravens only

Hear the worry before it is news.

Markets move on fear, and fear shows up in what people do before it shows up in official figures. Six Ravens listens in two ways: what people suddenly look up, and what they are saying to each other. Neither tells you what to do, and neither ever changes a level. They tell you when worry is spreading.

Public Alarm: what people look up.

When people start to worry about their bank or their savings, they look things up. Public Alarm counts, every day, how many people worldwide read the English Wikipedia articles on bank runs, market crashes, crypto failures and war, and compares that with the normal level for each article.

A group flags when two or more of its articles are read at 3 times their normal rate on the same day. Normal means the median of the previous 90 days, leaving out the latest week. The counts come from the Wikimedia Foundation's official page-view statistics: no personal data, and nothing anyone can buy their way into.

You see it in your panel and in the Friday report: each group's reading against normal, and a flag when one of them jumps.

It measures concern, not facts, and never changes a level. Crypto attention also jumps in euphoria, so the crypto group only flags while bitcoin is falling.

Whisper: what people are saying.

Stories start as talk. A rumour about a bank, a stablecoin or a blockade often circulates on social networks hours or days before it becomes news. Whisper will measure that talk: how much people are discussing bank runs, crashes, crypto failures and war, and how fast that is growing compared with normal.

We measure the conversation; we never repeat it. Whisper will show counts and trends only. It will never show individual posts, name the people who wrote them, or pass on rumours about a named company.

Social networks are noisy, with bots, hype and deliberate rumours, and their history is short. So we will collect the counts quietly first and test them against real events before Whisper appears in your panel and reports. It is not available yet, and we will not give a date until it has passed that test.

Like Public Alarm, Whisper will measure talk, not facts, and will never change a level.
